Several Dead As Bus Falls Off the Skyway

In one of the most tragic news that you expect to hear on a Monday morning and eight days before Christmas is about a senseless death of several people when they encountered an accident on their way to work.

According to the report from ABS-CBN, at least 15 died after a bus fell off the Skyway a few hours ago.

SPO2 Pete Dumlao of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group said a Pacita-bound Don Mariano Bus and a closed van fell off the Skyway in Bicutan, Taguig area and plunged into the southbound service road of South Luzon Expressway (SLEx).

Authorities could not yet give the exact number of fatalities from the incident but radio dzMM reporter Dennis Datu said he saw at least 15 bodies – 11 males and 4 females - lined up along SLEx. More people were being recovered from the ill-fated bus, as of posting time.

Datu, citing a report from the rescue teams on the site, said 7 more people were rushed to the hospital. The condition of the 7 victims, however, were still undetermined.

Traffic investigators have yet to determine how the bus fell of the Skyway. The bus and the closed van were heavily damaged.

The incident completely paralyzed traffic along SLEx's service road.
