ABS-CBNews.com reported that a man was arrested for allegedly burning down a house, and raping an 11-year-old girl in Barangay Tagbalogo in Naawan, Misamis Oriental.
Two girls, an 11-year-old and a nine-year-old, were killed after they were trapped inside a burning house on 31 December 2015.
The suspect, Cricejun Baluarte, the live-in partner of 11-year old's sister, admitted to the crime. He also said he raped the 11-year-old girl before setting the house on fire.
Baluarte said he did the crime out of anger at the victims' parents. In this case, maybe he should also allow the family of the victims to burn him slowly because of anger.
Based on investigation, Baluarte went to the town center, shouting that a group of armed men hurt him. He also said the two girls were left on the hill.
According to the victims' parents, the girls and the suspect went to the hill on the morning of 30 December to feed their pet animals. The girls failed to go home by sundown.
They only learned of the incident the following morning.
Authorities are waiting for the autopsy results to confirm whether the victim was raped. Once confirmed, Baluarte will be facing a rape charge in addition to arson with homicide.
