Mexican Police Are Too Scared and Ineffective

Scared Mexican Police
A video (below) taken in Mexico is fast becoming viral because it shows at least six Mexican police officers running away from cartel members who ended up murdering a businessman as his family watched in horror.

The man's family reached out to police for help when a group of gunmen showed up at their house in Cristo Rey, Sinaloa and dragged him out of the house, according to local newspaper Noroeste. But instead of helping the family, the officers showed up, saw they were outmanned, and ran away, cell phone video captured by the family shows.

The images show the officers running toward a state police vehicle and a municipal police patrol car, getting in and taking off.

"Puncture the tire, puncture the tire. These (profanity) are going to take off," a woman's voice can be heard saying on the video.

The gunmen take the man, later identified as 27-year-old Eliás Constantino, to the middle of the street in broad daylight.

"They're going to kill him. They're going to kill him," people are heard shouting.

Shots are heard and a black vehicle is seen leaving town a few seconds later. Piercing screams could be heard as gunshots rang out.

Four state police officers and two municipal officers fled town, Escuinapa's police chief told Mexican media outlets.

The officers have given statements to prosecutors, telling investigators that they fled because they were outnumbered, the police chief said.

Constantino's body was dumped on the Mazatlán-Durango highway.
