Human brutality and criminal mentality has struck again and claimed an innocent life. The victim, Anria "Anne" Galang Espiritu.

Netizens, friends and family of the 26-year old victim are crying for justice for her gruesome murder whose body was found with multiple stab wounds floating in a rice field in Calumpit, Bulacan on 14 August 2014.

Police discovered the lifeless body of Espiritu in a rice field in a remote village in Calumpit around 10 in the morning, but has not yet revealed any development in their pursuit to catch the criminals.

According to reports from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), the victim sustained several stab wounds in the neck, and one in the nape which could have possibly caused her death. A screw driver and a chain were also reportedly recovered near the crime scene.

Authorities also believe the poor victim was raped, which prompted several sectors and cause-oriented groups to call on the government to bring back the death penalty for heinous crimes.

Anria Espiritu, or simply Anne to friends and family, is an AMA University graduate who worked as a Human Resource Officer at United Pulp and Paper Company according to her social media account.

Her parents became worried when she failed to come home on the night of August 14. She was last seen wearing a gray skirt, a T-shirt and a necklace.

Police are still continuing the investigation and believes the brutal crime may have been committed by person or persons under the influence of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, a Facebook page was created dedicated to seeking justice for the young woman. The page "Justice for Anria Galang Espiritu" has already more than 11,000 followers. Sympathy and prayers from netizens poured in for Anne and her family.
