Ireland's Anti-Immigration Protest Growing Strong

Ireland Protest
Hundreds of thousands of people have taken part in an anti-immigration protest in Dublin, with a very small counter-demonstration also staged in the city centre last June.

The anti-immigration march made its way from the Garden of Remembrance to Custom House Quay.

Many waved tricolours while others wore hats with the slogan 'Make Ireland Great Again' or held banners reading 'Ireland is Full'.

A small contingent of counter-demonstration organized by the United Against Racism group gathered also, but they were overwhelmed by a much larger unstoppable force.

Several organizations and groups are involved in the counter-demonstration, including trade unions, the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, People Before Profit, the Labour Party, the Social Democrats, the Socialist Party, LGBTQ+ groups and students unions.

Thousands of anti-immigration protesters drowned the counter-demonstrators when they met each other at the bottom of O'Connell Street. Fortunately for the counter-protestors, gardaĆ implemented an effective event policing plan.

Members of the Garda Public Order Unit backed up by the Mounted Support Unit maintained a cordon between the two groups, and the afternoon passed off without any major incidents taking place.
