Actor and rapper Ice Cube has been condemned for sharing antisemitic memes and conspiracy theories sourced from Russian propaganda websites.
The NWA rapper tweeted an image depicting an occult symbol inside the Star of David, as well as a doctored photograph of Egyptian statues that have been linked to a Russian propaganda site named Black Matters.
On 6 June, Cube also shared an illustration of bankers with hooked noses playing Monopoly and using a group of black men as a table. A number of followers, including writers and journalists, responded to Cube’s tweet informing him of the image’s antisemitic imagery.
Cube also shared images depicting QAnon, a far-right conspiracy theory that claims the Trump administration is secretly working to take down the "deep state".
Last 10 June, author Roxane Gay tweeted at Cube: "It is impossible to take you seriously with regards to social justice or anything when you post anti-Semitic imagery. What the f*** are you doing?"
"This is CUBE," he wrote. "My account has not been hacked. I speak for no organisation. I only speak for the meek people of thee earth. We will not expect crumbles from your table. We have to power of almighty God backing us all over the earth. [sic] NO MORE TALKING. Repent."
In a second tweet, he wrote: "I will continue to keep our people motivated, informed and provide simple solutions to help solve the problems that America has caused our people. These are my acutel [sic] facts as I see it. You can take it or let it alone."
