Are Police Protecting Street Gambling in Cubao?

Cubao in Quezon City
Aside from the different kidnapping incidents allegedly committed by police authorities, the law enforcement agency also had to content with accusations that those who were sworn to protect the public were also the alleged protectors of illegal activities.

Residents of Cubao in Quezon City were reported last weekend to be protesting the presence of "sidewalk casinos" that they blame as the prime reason behind the rise of petty crimes in the area. Located along Pinatubo and West Point streets, the street level casinos were reportedly frequented by policemen, law enforcers and members of media to get their payoffs.

PHL Will Drill in Disputed Area

Manny

The drilling will start on 2016 and China will have to deal with it.

Manuel V. Pangilinan said that Filipino-British company Forum Energy PLC communicated the offer to China National Offshore Oil Corp. to explore Reed Bank, northwest of the Philippine island of Palawan. Philippine and Chinese vessels had a confrontation there three years ago.

Emma Watson's Emotional Speech About Gender Inequality

Emma Watson, UN Ambassador
Extreme feminists should learn a thing or two from newly-appointed U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson. The "Harry Potter" actress delivered an emotional and powerful speech at the United Nations headquarters on 20 September 2014 to help launch the HeForShe gender equality campaign.

The event, which aims to "mobilize men against gender inequalities," was hosted by Wolf Blitzer and was also attended by 24 star Kiefer Sutherland and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. Watson, who famously played smart, headstrong Hermoine Granger in the "Harry Potter" films, was commended by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
