Shooting At Legazpi Village

Salcedo Village
No details are available yet, except for an article in The Philippine Star which reported that a man was shot dead shortly after he got into a taxicab with his wife and child at the corner of Rufino and Salcedo streets in Makati 9 November 2014.

As usual, police have yet to identify the victim. Hopefully, some concerned citizen will be able to give more details in social media networks and could give more information, just like what happened when a viral photo made the rounds in social media last September 2014, showing several men (later identified as police officers) aiming what looked like guns at a vehicle on EDSA.

Best Practices in Preventing Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking
According to humantrafficking.org, poverty and lack of economic opportunity make women and children potential victims of traffickers associated with international criminal organizations. They are vulnerable to false promises of job opportunities in other countries. Many of those who accept these offers from what appear to be legitimate sources find themselves in situations where their documents are destroyed, their selves or their families threatened with harm, or they are bonded by a debt that they have no chance of repaying.

While women and children are particularly vulnerable to trafficking for the sex trade, human trafficking is not limited to sexual exploitation. It also includes persons who are trafficked into 'forced' marriages or into bonded labor markets, such as sweat shops, agricultural plantations, or domestic service.

Gov. Tallado Did Not Confirm Nor Deny

Governor Tallado
Is Camarines Norte Governor Edgardo "Egay" Tallado the person in the sex photos that flooded the social networking sites or not? This was the question that the governor failed to answer when he issued an ‘apology’ to his constituents.

The governor’s lawyer tried to defend his statements, but ended up making it more difficult not to believe that it was really the Tallado who was in that picture.

Thanks for the Apology, But No Thanks

Governor's Apology
If Philippines do not have public officials that are aware of Republic Act No. 6713 otherwise known as the "Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees," then this country is really in trouble.

How can anybody in government service fail to uphold the basic tenets of the law and even had the gall to justify their behavior that contradicts it. Not all public service employees are guilty, but one particular case was brought to the limelight after the spouse revealed the blatant violation of the law.
