Malaysia and PHL Scored High in Gender Survey

It was observed that people in Asia's developing countries believe the next generation of women will face a tough time combating gender inequality, according to a survey released last 16 October.

The survey across Asia by credit card company Mastercard asked 8,700 people if they thought gender equality would become worse, remain the same or get better in the future.

"Real Family" Flag Spreads its Wings to Russia

For the celebration of its annual “Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness” last July, Russia’s ruling party has found inspiration in an odd place: an anti-gay-marriage flag in France.

The new Russian logo shows a mother, father and three children holding hands, and it looks a lot like the logo used by La Manif Pour Tous, a French movement that opposes same-sex marriage. It was plastered all over at a festival in a Moscow park called "Real Family," a gathering organized by Vladimir Putin’s political party, United Russia.

"Islam Is Not Part of Europe" - Hungary

Strong words were uttered when Hungary's Prime Minister Viktor Orban defended his hardline stance against refugees, the vast majority of whom are Muslim, saying in an interview published on 16 October that Islam "has never been part of Europe".

Speaking to Germany's Focus news weekly about the record migrant influx, he said "the language of the European elite is ideological and dogmatic".

Ann Coultier Shot Back at Raven-Symone

An interesting report from the Wrap gave conservative political pundit Ann Coulter a thumbs'up. The controversial and outspoken author and political analyst spiced up an episode of “The View” by holding court on immigration, Donald Trump — and Raven-Symone‘s apparent hypocrisy.

Coulter took Raven-Symone to task after the “View” co-host attempted to grill Coulter on her abrasive rhetoric. Noting that her mother had taught her as a child that, if you don’t have anything nice to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all, Raven-Symone asked, “Why do you think it’s important to mudsling?”

Typhoon "Lando" Makes Landfall

The state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced today (18 October) at about 1:00 A.M. that Typhoon #LandoPH had made landfall at Casiguran, Aurora.

The typhoon had intensified through 17 October afternoon and evening and was previously forecast to touch down somewhere along the coast of Aurora Province, Isabela or the northern stretch of Quezon Province, in the wee hours before dawn, after approaching from the fringe of the Pacific Ocean.
