Israel Backtracks On African Migrants

Less than a day after the Israeli government announced a deal with the United Nations’ refugee agency to resettle more than 16,000 African migrants and grant legal status to others, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suspended and then definitively scrapped the deal.

Early last 2 April, the Israeli government and the U.N. agency, formally known as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, revealed the outlines of a deal they'd signed concerning the status of more than 34,000 undocumented Eritreans and Sudanese living in Israel. Under the agreement, more than 16,000 would resettle in other countries, largely in Europe. The rest would receive legal status in Israel.

Police Warned About The "Punish A Muslim" Day

A few weeks ago, a letter began circulating in the U.K. that said 3 April had been designated Punish a Muslim Day. It laid out a points-based reward system for violence carried out against Muslims, including 50 points to "throw acid in the face of a Muslim" and 1000 points to "burn or bomb a mosque."

As the letter went viral on social media, there were concerns the campaign could spark violence in New York. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams called for it to be countered by a message of tolerance.

Time To Send Israel Immigrants Back To Their Countries

Israel has started handing out notices to 20,000 male African migrants giving them two months to leave the country or risk being thrown in jail.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government is offering the migrants, most of whom are from Sudan and Eritrea, US$ 3,500 and a plane ticket to what it says is a safe destination in another country in sub-Saharan Africa.

State Rep. Jeanne Ives, who is running against Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner in the Republican primary, released the ad last 3 February in an attempt to challenge her opponent’s conservative values.

Heavy movers like bulldozers and backhoes pounded more than two dozen seized luxury cars in the Philippines last 6 February, including Porsches, Mercedes, Jaguars and Corvettes, in a dramatic demolition showcasing the no-nonsense leader's crackdown on crime and corruption.

President Rodrigo Duterte watched as the second-hand vehicles, some valued as high as $115,000, were reduced to piles of scrap in a little over three minutes.
