Afghan Asylum Seeker Goes On Stabbing Spree In France

An Afghan asylum-seeker who killed a man and stabbed several others in the French city of Lyon sparked a row about immigration as new details emerged about his rampage.

Investigators said the killer appeared to have psychological problems and had smoked large quantities of cannabis before stabbing the 19-year-old man to death and injuring eight others last 31 August at a bus station in the Villeurbanne suburb.

Portland Mayor Decries Possible Violence From ANTIFA

The mayor of Portland, Oregon, said last 14 August that people planning violence or espousing hatred at a weekend protest by conservative groups in the liberal city "are not welcome here."

Mayor Ted Wheeler spoke at a rally with other leaders ahead of the event Saturday, which is also expected to bring out anti-fascist terrorist. Anticipating trouble, none of the city's nearly 1,000 police officers will have the day off.

Quebec To Ban Public Employees From Wearing Hijab

The Canadian province of Quebec will ban public sector employees from wearing religious symbols during work hours, in legislation introduced on early this year, a very popular that targets Muslim women who wear hijabs or other head coverings.

The proposed law sets the province’s right-leaning Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) government on a collision course with the prime minister, Justin Trudeau, who promotes religious freedom, in a federal election year with Quebec a vital battleground.

Surveillance Drones Made Available To U.S. Allies

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration has moved ahead with a surveillance drone sale to four U.S. allies in the South China Sea region as acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said Washington will no longer "tiptoe" around Chinese behavior in Asia.

The drones would afford greater intelligence gathering capabilities potentially curbing Chinese activity in the region.

ICE Looks To Open More Facilities In California

As the U.S. immigration system recorded the highest number of apprehensions at the southwestern border in a decade, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is looking at opening new and sophisticated detention facilities in California.

ICE is considering using existing facilities or constructing new facilities in the Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco areas to house between 5,100 to 5,600 detainees, according to official documents posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website. The facilities would be used to house "criminal aliens and other immigrant violators," the documents say.
