Is It Wrong To Give Money To Typhoon Victims In Bicol?

After the exit of Typhoon Kristine (international name Trami), which caused widespread damages and lost of lives across the Philippines, a viral photo of Camarines Sur Governor Luigi Villafuerte has drawn mixed reactions online.

The image shows Villafuerte standing on a small boat, handing what appears to be cash to residents affected by the storm, many of whom were seen reaching out to receive the money.

Illegal Migrants Suspected Of Looting Hurricane Victims

There are more than 100 people, including at least 41 illegal immigrants, are being rounded off in Florida for allegedly looting and scamming victims of hurricanes Helene and Milton, local law enforcement officials said.

Looting patrols in Pinellas County over the last three weeks rounded up 45 suspects on 68 charges that included armed robbery, burglary, loitering and prowling, grand theft, vandalism and trespassing, according to the press release of Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.

Yahya Sinwar Found Carrying UN Documents

After they confirmed the death of Hamas Leader Yahya Sinwar, Israeli television started airing videos of what the soldiers found in his pockets: A pack of Mentos, a lighter, prayer beads, and a large wad of cash — all ordinary stuff.

HOwever, there was one more item on Sinwar’s person that is very concerning. He was carrying an official document identifying him as an employee of UNRWA, the United Nations agency that was established exclusively to help Palestinian refugees, and which has tragically become indistinguishable from Hamas.

LA Times Editorial Board Decided Against Factual Analysis

American politics is heating up after the editorials editor of The Los Angeles Times has decided to resign from the paper in the light of the paper's decision not to endorse a presidential candidate in the 2024 race.

"I am resigning because I want to make it clear that I am not okay with us being silent," Mariel Garza said in an interview with the Columbia Journalism Review. "In dangerous times, honest people need to stand up. This is how I’m standing up." In addition to being the paper’s editorials editor, Garza was also a member of its editorial board.
