The Rising Popularity of "Japan First" Party

Japan held elections for its upper house, the House of Councillors, last 20 July. The vote proved a challenge for the conservative ruling Liberal Democratic party (LDP), which has been reeling from corruption scandals, rising prices and US tariffs on Japanese exports.

The ruling coalition, composed of the LDP and its junior partner, Kōmeitō, lost its majority in the house. While the centre-left Constitutional Democratic party maintained its position as the largest opposition group, the breakout success of the election was that of Sanseitō, an ultranationalist populist party.

There is one Cincinnati council member right now who sparked a tremendous online backlash with her response to one of several videos of the viral 26 July fight in downtown Cincinnati.

"They begged for that beat down!" Councilwoman Victoria Parks posted to Facebook on Sunday, 27 July at 4:50 A.M. in response to a video showing some of the brawl. "I am grateful for the whole story."

An 8.7 Magnitude Earthquake Sends Tsunami Warnings In Japan And Hawaii

There was a powerful magnitude 8.7 earthquake that strucked off Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on 30 July, generating a tsunami of up to 4 metres (13 feet), prompting evacuations and damaging buildings, officials said.

"Today's earthquake was serious and the strongest in decades of tremors," Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov said in a video posted on the Telegram messaging app. He added that according to preliminary information there were no injuries, but a kindergarten was damaged.

Blood, Crimes Scene And Physics

Creating mock crime scene evidence is one of the tools employed to help forensic scientists better read the stories left behind by gruesome bloodstains. To decode some of these bloody stories, all a team from North Carolina State University needed was a combination of high-speed cameras, cotton fabrics, and a bit of pig’s blood.

Findings from the recent study of how common clothing reacts to blood are detailed in the September 2025 issue of the journal Forensic Science International.
