Immigration Commissioners Faces Serious Charges

Bureau of Immigration
Three former commissioners of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in the Philippines and six others are facing charges for ordering the deportation of a convicted foreigner.

Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales found probable cause to indict former Immigration commissioners Teodoro Delarmente, Roy Almoro and Jose Cabochan for violation of Section 3(e) of Republic Act No. 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act). It stems from the irregularities in the issuance of medical passes and Summary Deportation Order (SDO) in favor of a certain Vo Van Duc, a suspected terrorist convicted of unlawful manufacture and possession of explosives.

PHL's Commitment to Refugees

Rohingya Refugees
A few months ago, the Philippine government said that it was willing to accommodate 3,000 Rohingyas seeking refuge from political persecution. The statement came in the heels of the country's commitment to the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees. The Philippines was also continuing a tradition of reaching out to victims of suffering all over the world.

Since May 2015, thousands of Rohingyas, Muslim migrants from Myanmar, have been going back and forth some Southeast Asian countries—particularly Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia—to flee from severe persecution, human trafficking and strong hostility in their homeland. Called as the "boat people," some Rohingyas were stuck at sea trying to find a country that would help them in their plight. Others starved while others died.

Mass Deportation of Illegals From The US is Doable

Illegals Can Be Deported
When Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump called for mass deportation of millions of immigrants living in the U.S. illegally, as well as their American-born children, many thought it cannot be done.

However, history will teach Americans that large-scale removal was done 85 years ago and applied on many Mexican-American families.

INC Foolishly Wants To Stop Crime Investigation

INC EDSA Rally
Oftentimes, extremism blinds common sense and kept foolishness at the forefront of one's judgement. Refusing to accept the basic law that governs civilization, but prefers chaos and disorder just to protect self-serving interest.

In the case of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), the interest of the few are being protected by zealous followers who refuse to acknowledge that the country is governed by law and the exercise of which is guaranteed by the Philippine Constitution. Instead, they demand that they be given special treatment and that the pale of the law and due process, which apply to everyone regardless of religious affiliation or lack of it, should not be applied to them.

What Is An "Anchor Baby"?

Anchor Babies
Donald Trump received substantial support when he spoke about "anchor babies" and seemed to relish the boost from his latest provocation in the race for the GOP presidential nomination. Then Jeb Bush echoed the phrase and found himself on defense — and increasingly exasperated.

Some call the phrase derogatory. Others, such as GOP candidate Ben Carson, dismiss the hubbub as "silly political correctness."
