Court Says Texas Can File Immigration Case

The U.S. Supreme Court gave Texas more time to file court papers in its legal dispute with the federal government over President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration in a move that would still allow the justices to decide the case during their current term running through June.

Last 1 December, 26 Republican-governed states led by Texas sued to stop Obama's 2014 plan to protect millions of illegal immigrants from deportation. Lower courts blocked the executive action, prompting the Justice Department to launch an appeal to the Supreme Court on 20 November.

Concubinage Filed Against Cong. Amante

ABS-CBNnews.com reported that the wife of Agusan del Norte 2nd District Rep. Erlpe John Amante has filed concubinage charges against the lawmaker and his alleged mistress, saying she could no longer bear the insults and the pain they have caused her and her children.

Ms. Judy Amante, accompanied by her lawyer, also filed charges against her husband for violating the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act before the prosecutor's office in Cabadbaran City.

In 1975, the Swedish parliament unanimously decided to change the former homogeneous Sweden into a multicultural country. Forty years later the dramatic consequences of this experiment emerge: violent crime has increased by 300 percent, according to the report from by Ingrid Carlqvist and Lars Hedegaard.

If one looks at the number of rapes, however, the increase is even worse. In 1975, 421 rapes were reported to the police; in 2014, it was 6,620. That is an increase of 1,472 percent.

Gay Rights Are Shrinking Boy Scouts Donation

Figures revealed that donations dropped so low in the nation's largest Boy Scouts of America local council — the Orem-based Utah National Parks Council. It left the officials with only one option: layoffs.

"We're substantially behind what we've done in the past," Stan Lockhart, volunteer president of the council that serves 90,000 youth, said about its annual Friends of Scouting fundraising drive. That began in September and will continue through the end of the year, but the bulk of contributions usually comes early.
