Let the Deportation Begin

U.S. immigration agents conducted the first raids this year targeting the deportation of families who flocked across the United States' southern border over the past two years, a senior government official said last 4 January.

Jeh Johnson, the head of the Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement that the 121 illegal migrants and foreign criminals were rounded up during raids in Georgia, Texas and North Carolina were primarily members of Central American families that crossed into the U.S. via Mexico since May 2014. Most were placed in family detention centers in Texas to await deportation.

Dozens of apparently coordinated sexual assaults against women first took place in the western German city of Cologne.

The State Department has been releasing the totality of Clinton's work emails from her time as US top diplomat, amounting to tens of thousands of missives peppered with sometimes quirky insights.

Arsonist and Rapist Arrested

ABS-CBNews.com reported that a man was arrested for allegedly burning down a house, and raping an 11-year-old girl in Barangay Tagbalogo in Naawan, Misamis Oriental.

Two girls, an 11-year-old and a nine-year-old, were killed after they were trapped inside a burning house on 31 December 2015.

Filipino Soldier Discriminated in Kalibo

Can you be discriminated in your own country by foreigners? It appears that this can happen in the Philippines after First Lieutenant Ryan Layug, whose Facebook post about being denied entry to the Korean-run airport lounge located across Kalibo International Airport.

The incident happened last 1 January 2016 and the post went viral over the long weekend. Layug already filed a complaint with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Ombudsman Is Taking Down Corrupt Officials

After dismissing the police officers involved in the anomalous rubber boat deal last month, the Office of the Ombudsman is again showing everyone that nobody is above the law after it dismissed three Mindanao mayors and told them that they are no longer allowed to hold public office.

Dismissed from service were Cagayan de Oro (CDO) City Mayor Oscar Moreno, Matanao, Davao del Sur Mayor Vicente Fernandez, and Ditsa-an Ramain, Lanao del Sur Mayor Mamintal Adiong.
