How To Deal With Child Rapist Yemeni Style

A despicable man convicted of raping and murdering a three-year-old girl was executed in the Yemeni capital Sanaa last 31 July in front of hundreds of onlookers. This is the first public execution there since 2009 and it won't be the last, especially for child rapists.

"Security was very tight, because authorities were fearing a revenge attack by armed men from the Bani Matar tribe to which the girl's family belong," said Reuters photographer Khaled Abdullah who witnessed the scene.

EU Court Rejects The "Open-Door" Policy

In a ruling which is expected to have a productive and far-reaching effect for how the European Union deals with migrants in future, the European Court of Justice last 26 July upheld the right of member states to deport asylum-seekers to the first EU country they enter.

The ruling amounted to an effective rejection of Angela Merkel's controversial "open-door" refugee policy, which saw more than one million asylum-seekers flood into Germany.
