New Migration Theory in Southeast Asia

Migration Theory
An international research team has discovered new DNA evidence to overturn conventional theories that suggest that the present-day populations of Island Southeast Asia (covering the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysian Borneo) came from Taiwan 4,000 years ago.

The researchers show that population dispersal came earlier, from within the region, and probably resulted from flooding.

If there is still the slightest of hope, people should not give up easily and cling to that small chance that their relatives are still alive and well.

This is what thousand of people, many from Southeast Asia, tried to do for three days after the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was reported missing. However, as hours and minutes drag on concerns and worries increase over the fate of the Boeing 777 carrying 239 people onboard.

"Tuesday with Morrie" Author Helps Tacloban Schools

U.S. author Mitch Albom is not a Filipino, but we might as well be proud of him for spearheading the drive to rebuild 10 libraries in Tacloban, a central Philippine city ravaged by Typhoon Haiyan in November.

National Book Store Foundation, his Philippine partner in the project, said on 25 February 2014 that Albom has pledged to raise US$ 160,000, starting with his own contribution of US$ 10,000 for the libraries.

If you have not yet visited coastal areas ravaged by typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) late last year, then you may have not yet notice the proliferation of one primary color in the shores near fishing villages. Bright yellow boats now dominate the relaxing scene that was a few moths ago was a site of death and destruction.

Images surfaced later showing fisherfolks trying to survive with whatever they can hold on, including catching fish using old refrigerators.
