Women Who Changed The World, Part 1

Women Changers Part 1
Whenever we celebrate the International Women's Day (IWD), it is prudent to know that the observance was a result of the organizing activities of women in the early 20th Century. Between 1909 and 1911, working women in the United States participated in organizing strike activities of the National Women’s Trade Union League and other concerned groups. They were responding to the low wages, lack of protective legislation and the poor working conditions to which women workers were subjected during that time.

This year's celebration of Women's Month pays tribute to the strong and resilient "Juanas" who brought inspiring changes here in the country and across the globe.

"Speaking Up" Against An Abusive BI Officer

Abusive BI Officer
A teacher named Roselle Carreon posted an article in Facebook entitled, "What should you do when a public servant asks you to 'SHUT UP': SPEAK UP!" on 25 March 2014. She recounted what she and her husband experienced when they went to the Bureau of Immigration's (BI) Makati extension office on 24 March 2014 to settle her husband's Alien Certificate of Registration Identity (ACR I) card.

In her post, she related that her husband had "properly" asked a certain Carlo Salazar, who she assumed was the office supervisor, if she could claim the ID in his behalf as he would be out of the country by the time it would be released. What she got as a response, totally surprised her.

China Prevents PHL From Resupplying Base

Ayungin Shoal
During his speech before the U.N.General Assembly on 10 April 1974, Deng Xiaoping said that, "If one day China should change her color and turn into super power, if China would play the tyrant in the world and everywhere subject to others of her bullying, aggression and exploitation, the citizens of China and the world should identify her as a social-imperialistic, the Chinese people should expose, oppose and work with the world to punish the abusive ruler."

Apparently that statement is untrue. Instead of taking a stand and help the world fight off the bully, China has turned into one.
