Can't Fix It? Ban It!

Riding in Tandem
"If you can't stop the indirect effect, ban it." This is what appears to be the basic mantra of some local government units (LGUs) who can't get their acts together to stop the crimes committed by "riding-in-tandems", motorcycle riding perpetrators.

With the rise of crimes done by mobile criminals operating in pairs, which range from robberies to murder, Metro Manila's LGUs have been tasked to implement necessary measures that would curb these incidents. Instead of addressing their ineptitude and complacency by hiring more motorized police patrols with high-tech equipment, the city of Manila seeks to ban two persons from riding the motorcycles together.

Unanswered Questions from SSS Bonuses

Social Security System
It seems they still are not aware of what the insurance members wanted to hear and explained properly. It seems that the simple answer to a very simple question still eludes them.

Where Potential Filipino Wives Go

Danish Faroe Island
Many Filipino women do not want to stay in the Philippines to look for husbands. They want to look beyond the borders where economic opportunities are better. Where men scramble at every opportunity to marry them. That place is the Danish Faroe Islands.

Located between Norway and Iceland, Faore Island has experienced a falling birth rate for years now that threatens the archipelago's future population. Men outnumber women by 2000 and the total population of the Faroes is just 48,500.

More Prepared Than Tacloban City

Central Philippines
Still remember Typhoon Yolanda? Thousand of lives were lost and both the local government units (LGUs) and national government are still at a lost on how to work well with each other after the 1991 devolution of powers.

Ironically, there are less-developed areas or LGUs that appeared more prepared than the badly hit Tacloban City who had to deal with their high-profiled albeit "unskilled in handling disaster" local executive. Areas that are more discipline to handle possible worst-case scenarios include the town of Javier in Leyte; Malapascua Island in Cebu; Albay in Bicol, and Virac in Catanduanes. All recorded no deaths from Typhoon Yolanda, according to NDRRMC data.

And when everything was put on the line, she leaned on Frank Sinatra's "My Way" to propel her to victory.
